Defense of the Sea Base
A major landing platform on Aquilaris has been sieged, and Droids are emerging. A mortar is firing, but can the 704th under Viper hold on for long?
There, you got your goddamn GIMPing, happy MARK(Y)?

Re: Defense of the Sea Base
This is really awesome. I really like it because in MOCS and lego starwars movies there usually is no water base. Overall pretty freakin awesome!
Re: Defense of the Sea Base
Nice, this is definantly one of my favorite of yours. Nice action, good details.
Re: Defense of the Sea Base
This looks pretty good, I like the mortor and the torso of the clone in the middle is pretty good also. I dont like the spider droid coming out of the water, because the back legs just hover over it.

To be honest? Still not loving it. The ground is kinda basic, maybe more. It's just stacked bricks. Maybe a bit more rocks, anything. The shapes are firaly nice though, it doesn't look unnatural at all. I mean, they're shaped, so they're not noobish, but beyond that, blug. The canon is nice, but simple. Spider droid is a set. Agree with wreck s on the awkwardness of the back legs. Clones are the rest of it. Work on it a bit.

If I were to make a rock wall formation, it'd be impossible for any advancing forces to reach the base, unless they were sophisticated enough to actually climb up. But nooooo, these are Droids.

True, I could get a couple rocks there.
Spider droid is a set.
Point being? Oooh, I know now, you mean no official TLC sets or minifigs! Of course.

I could've changed the legs, but if you can see, the legs end right where the diorama ends. No overhang.

I doubt I will, as I have plenty other stuff to do than revise this. I might revisit the concept, though.

No. Sets are allowed, sometimes, rarely, but in something this small with no other major interest point it doesn't work well. A ship is generally in interestpoint of the MOC, since this has no outstanding landscaping, and the most interesting thing you have is a spider droid.

It still looks really awkward.

It's good enough, you don't need an outstanding point in your MOC, whether it's a huge mech getting oblitherated, or a small Droid getting blasted to bits.

Agreed

You don't need an outstanding point, but you have one. Lego is an art, and all works of art have a focal point. This one happens to be a TLC set. The rest of the MOC is really just back drop for that and the canon.
Re: Defense of the Sea Base
It is a bit plain but I like the rocks, overall an good MOC.

Spider droids can climb up mountains... And maybe if you switched the SPDs for rocket battle droids or droids on STAPs? Okay MOC I guess, the mortar is the best bit.Alpha wrote:Zepher wrote:If I were to make a rock wall formation, it'd be impossible for any advancing forces to reach the base, unless they were sophisticated enough to actually climb up.
