Wintry MOCs

Post by 80-0 on Mon Jul 06, 2009 2:16 am

These are a bunch of MOCs which were inspired from J.R.R. Tolkien's book, the Father Christmas Letters.

When I made this starship I intended to give the Snowmen some simple and fast way to get about.
(you may ask why a 'Snowman' is a basic minifigure. Ask Mr. Tolkien.)

/\ size comparison with previous MOCs

This little scene was actually based on an occurance in the book, though it was the North Polar Bear who was setting off the firecrackers. This time he is only finding himself a fish in an icehole...

Notice: To those who wish to gripe about white balance in the first four pics, the WB in the bottom pics is in fact a shirt. >_<

I quite like your snowman starship.

It is strange, smooth, elegant - it has a sort of anachronistic '60ies' feel (as if a designer of that time period created a science fiction starship).

...and the last scene made me smile. Smile

Good job!

"No...Dont!" says father Christmas.
"Ha!" A toast!

Epic, anyway, the snowman starfighter looks like it could be mass produced into millions of ships, anyway back on topic, the fireworks scene is epic, its like santa running up to stop the guy from blowing them into a million pieces. Toasted!!!

Funny that you should say that, because when I made it I wasn't aiming for making it for the snowman. At the time I was just making a 'retro-future'(yes, that's redundant) ship with the ever-present 'utopian pilot clad in white'. When I made the smaller scene I realized the usefulness of the figure, and I'd also have less to explain if he were simply a snowman.

Second one is so simple, that I can't really say I love it. First one, while also simple, is at least sleek and nice. Simple in a good way, in other words. Nice work on the first one, second one's okay.

But 80-0, and I feel awful being the one to tell you this... it's summer.

The second one is focused on the figs... In case you didn't notice. >_>

Yes, it's indeed summer and as I said I was reading a book which inspired these, not merely looking out my window. Razz

This is great! The first ship is sleek and smoother and pretty accurate from my understanding of the book.

Second one is a bit plain, but it's a bit hard not to make that scene plain. Razz

The ship isn't from the book.

But I'm glad you've read it anyway. Wink Such great fiction is lost upon one too many of today's young folk...

It's Winter in the southern hemisphere...

Yeah, it's a great book. I guess what I meant was, that's the ship I would've picture for him. Razz
