Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
I really like it! I have to say that's the best lightsaber I've ever seen!
Oh, and I like how he/she has that sith aura.

Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
Lightsabers are lightsabers. Not too much to them. Basically all the same.
But I like the pic SithFilmer.

Thanks; I think it's best version I've made, too.Pyro Hawk wrote:I really like it! I have to say that's the best lightsaber I've ever seen!

It's a he.
Different amounts of blur, different core sizes, stuff like that.Thunder-blade wrote:Lightsabers are lightsabers. Not too much to them. Basically all the same.

Ok, that was unnessacary (and I'm not making fun of you). But pretty epic lightsaber, Sithfilmer.SithFilmer(New Mom) wrote:It's aheboy!!!!
Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
Okay, I made a MOC lately, and decided to GIMP some it. I'm not posting all of it cause I'll just look like a noob having an excuse to post a MOC. A Jeedai master prepares to block an incoming shot.
Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
Looks to white in the middle, like there is just a white piece of paper there.
Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
I'm helping a member on Eurobricks with the effects and I am really proud of the light saber's.
Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
You made that... a brush? Why would you do that when you can just put text on your image..
Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
I still can't get that glowing look for my lightsabers. Can someone help me please? I've used every tutorial posted here and I still can't get it quite right.

Post what you think is your best and maybe I can see where you're going wrong. What program are you using?

Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
Probably my best, but it still turns out with a white block in the middle.
This is using Sial's tutorial from earlier in the thread.
Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
Well I use Sail's tutorial and it's the best. Well did you make 3 layer's then use a 5 Gaussian blur on the frist layer then on the seconded layer use 20 Gaussian blur and then the last layer use a 40 Gaussian blur but only use color balance for the last and maybe the seconded. That's how I do my lightsabers.
Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
So you use GIMP? And you want there to be more distinction between the blades where they intersect?
First, I recommend getting Paint.NET if you haven't already. GIMP is better for lighting effects, fading, etc. in my opinion, while Paint.NET has quick loading times and it's easier to make 'sabers quickly. It's what I used for the 'saber in my picture at the top of the last page. Second, here's my tutorial:
1) Open the image into Paint.NET.
2) Create a new layer (Automatically named 'Layer 2'). Press F4 to enter the layer properties dialogue and change the mode to 'Screen.'
3) Duplicate Layer 2 three times.
4) On the second Layer 2, use a Gaussian Blur of 10. On the third Layer 2, use a Gaussian Blur of 20. On the fourth Layer 2, use a Gaussian Blur of 30. (Via Effects>Blur>Gaussian Blur)
5) Merge the fourth, third, and second Layer 2's into one layer (Ctrl+M).
6) Select the Recolor tool, and set your primary color to the color you want (red, blue, green, etc.). Set your secondary color to white.
7) On the top Layer 2, use the recolor tool on the blurred part.
8) Click the first Layer 2, and apply a Gaussian blur of either 1 or 2 (It's really up to your preference).
9) Merge all the layers into one.
If you need any of the steps explained more, just ask (Or if you don't want PDN, then hopefully this'll help someone else).

Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
I made this using Sail's tutorial to help CommanderKill out.
SithFilmer I think he uses Gimp.

Re: GIMP/Photoshop Thread
Hey, could anyone make a tutorial on how to make fire in GIMP please? Tons of thanks ahead of time!
