V - Wing Mod

A mod to make the V-wing in to a Drop ship.

Could we have an overview pic of the whole thing?

This doesn't work. At all. It's a good concept, but you need to think through it a bit more. How is it supposed to land? Why would you put this on a starfighter?

I fail to see a practical use for this...unless troopers like hanging on for dear life at thousands of kilometers power...and like being dropped from high altitudes...

Likewise I fail to see any use or practicality in this. The V-wing is an interceptor space superiority fighter. Those troops, unless they are wearing really good seatbelts, are gonna fall right off of that platform looking thing. Not to mention the no cover or armor protecting them from small arms ground fire. They use gunships to insert troopers for a reason.

I'm sorry to be hatin so much on this, and I don't want to hurt your feelings, but this is possibly one of the worst ideas I've ever seen for a ship.

The V-Wing is a starfighter, not a dropship.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but that just simply doesn't look right for a starfighter. Also, how will the starfighter stand up with the part there on the bottom?

A clone looks at the platform, attached to a V-Wing angled at forty-five degrees towards the ceiling of the hangar.
"Where's the drop ship?"
"This is it," goes his counterpart.
The first trooper runs his glove along the support pin. "So they put us into a box first... we just stand on this and then they enclose us."
"Nope. Just stand on that."
"Er...", he pauses. "Then there must be force fields."
"Not enough room."
"Shield envelopment?"
"Outside of the V-Wing's deflector bubble."
"Harnesses?"
"Too expensive."
"Handlebars!?"
"Metal shortage."
The first clone throws his hands up in the air, exasperatedly. "So those Rothana mofo's want us to fly in, at hundreds of KPH, through a planet's atmosphere, with no protection but our armor, on a ten by ten durasteel platform, and then be dropped all the way to the ground - provided we're still alive after atmospheric entry - inertia and gravity playing massive tricks on our positioning, without any sort of decent assist mechanism?!"

The first clone looks at the platform a second time.

"We are so expendable."

Thanks guys you made me LOL all day. Ok I forgot to put in that the Venator-class Star Destroyer is in the planet's atmosphere be for the drop ship takes off. The Drop ship picks up the pad thing and tacks off it does not hits the ground to pick it up and to drop it off. It was made to tack troops to the ground and dose no gets scene not like the gunship.

I think the actual build is pretty cool, but the concept is way off.

It's not the ship, but the way you posted it. See, if you want people to like your work, you have to make it appeal to them. Right now, your MOC post sounds like a serious attempt and that you actually believe that it's a good idea. However, if you had posted using a different tone, eg. a similar thing to what Sialboats has done, or just saying that you thought it would be funny, then people would hearken to it more readily.

Sorry but this really doesn't work at all! The V-wing is a space starfighter and there for does not have the shape and design for a dropship. It was a good idea but I would just try building a completely new vehicle. The V-wing is nice but the dropship concept with it is not good.

I like it. Its cool how you can use the V-wing to be a drop ship. Interesting.

Even though I like the slopes you've added to the front, I have to agree with most of the other comments in this thread. Making a bomber into a dropship just seems plain strange.

I like a lot nice adaptation and the concept is great so the fighters drop of the soldiers then provide cover .... I like it
