Weapon Sling - Version 3!!!??
Given that we are experiencing a 4 day heat wave here with temperatures above 40C (104F), I can no longer work on orders all day until it cools down a bit. So this has given me a chance to play around with another (updated) version of my Weapon Sling.
So why am I making another version I here you ask?
Version 1, whilst perfect for it's job, had 2 major flaws:
1) It took a long time to construct because each end had to be sewn together into a loop. After a while I managed to get this down to 20min per sling, but this was still far too long!!
2) The other flaw was that if an excessive amount of strain was put on the loops (and hence the stitching), it would start to fall apart.
Version 2, what I thought was an improvement on version 1, wasn't quite upto par either. Not to mention that, a number of people were extremely disheartened that I discontinued version 1 (some more vocal than others!!). With version 2 I found a much better solution to the weapon attachment points, very small (clearish) elastic bands. This was a huge improvement over the previous version as these bands had quite alot of stretch in them (more than the elastic). However, the bands are only half the sling. The actual strap still caused me a problem. Whilst I did work out a solution on how to make it adjustable, it became evident that making hundreds of tiny buckles wasn't going to last long. This solution also had the draw back that it seems some people couldn't get the adjustment system to work properly anyway.
So what was I to do!!!! Create Version 3 of course

Features of Version 3:
1) I have used the clear elastic loops from version 2 to give full flexibility over the size and shape of the weapon this can be attached to. Basically there is no limitation to the type and size of minifig weapon this can be attached to.
2) I have also used the same elastic strap from version 1 so that it provides added flexibility in terms of shape and length, yet doesn't require any "manual" adjustment.
3) A more streamlined finished product.
So, after all that ranting and raving about why I came up with this new design, I now open the floor for your discussions and thoughts on this version.

PS: Please note, even though I have shown this with a BrickArms Bazooka, it can be used on any type of weapon including the Lego Long Blasters and the Little Arms Shop Clone Rifle.

I like it alot. I have noticed you around more often so that heat wave must be going on for a while now .
Although I haven't purchased anything from you in the past I have browsed your site several times and I have to say I like your work. This looks like it will be a great new addition to your product line.

Re: Weapon Sling - Version 3!!!??
That is some legit stuff!! I have a question though, can the elastic going around the weapon contract enough to say...hold on to the barrel of a brickarms M4 or similarly sized small barreled weapon?

One of the clear elastics needs to be doubled back on itself so that it fits snuggly onto the barrel. They're flexible enough that this is not a problem.Clonecommando007 wrote:That is some legit stuff!! Looks good.
How much will each one be, and is there a discount if we buy a lot?

Firstly, I haven't worked out the prices yet.
Secondly, these forums are not the place for me to discuss pricing.
Thirdly, There are no discounts available for any of my accessories. Unlike other vendors who can mass produce their accessories in large quantities, each one of my accessories is individually hand made. Each one takes the same amount of time to make. So whether I make 1 or 101, they all take the same amount of time, and all cost the same amount in materials to make. So the only thing buying in bulk does for either of us is extend the production time!

Looks really nice. I was wondering, what kind of material do you use for the flexible ends?

Where do you get these, or do you make them yourself?

Extremely impressive. They looke very realistic, and easy to use, and also seem to get the job done easily. I'm a purist, and always will be, but sometimes I have to say there is something that kinda makes me want to switch sides, and this is one of those things. Most impressive work.
Re: Weapon Sling - Version 3!!!??
Technically speaking you would still be a purist because you're not modifying any Lego pieces in any way. Your only adding to themZepher wrote:I'm a purist, and always will be, but sometimes I have to say there is something that kinda makes me want to switch sides, and this is one of those things. No that's not right:
Purist = Uses only LEGO pieces which aren't modified in any way.
Modder =
1. Uses (modded) LEGO pieces, along with parts from other companies, such as BA, BF, and yourself.
or
2. Uses LEGO pieces which aren't modified in any way, along with parts from other companies, such as BA, BF, and yourself.

Re: Weapon Sling - Version 3!!!??
People use the term purist differently. Some people use BA and BF, but maintain that they're purist. It all just depends on who you ask.

Yes they're purist in the way of not modding, but they're actually modders.
