Destroying the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base hidden on Hoth
Most of the rebels in the trenches were wounded, dying or dead, or scared, captured, or demoralized by the unstoppable Imperial attack. The rebel gun emplacements fired on the walkers at a distance, to little avail. Many rebels met their deaths to the walkers' ripping rays. Snowtroopers body-mopped up what they could.
As the armored assault force reached the trenches, the Alliance soldiers, with most of their laser cannon emplacements destroyed, came under heavy fire, and the order to retreat was issued.

Looks really good. I like all the little details you added! The flame doesn't look too realistic though.....

Well good job on your entry eclipse!
Re: Destroying the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base hidden on Hoth
The foot prints were a nice touch; and I love the explosion in the snow too. Great job!
Re: Destroying the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base hidden on Hoth
Thanks Guys this was a 2 week (if not more) process of researching, watching the movie, and building.
It originally was going to be a 24x36 studs Dio but I didnt like how cramped everything was. I kept adding 12x12 plates to see when It wasn't going to be smooshed anymore and this is the result. It is 24x72 at the present and Thank God I didn't continue to expand since I ran out of plates and snow stuff.
I also wanted to make 2 snow speeders flying side by side but didn't have the part for it. Almost crashed one but still ran out of parts.

1. You mention a walker, I do not see one.
2. The snow-speeder looks unrealistic. (No wind-shield for the back gunner.)
3. Still epic, nice job.

Re: Destroying the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base hidden on Hoth
Great job but the rear turret in the snow speeder is to big.
Re: Destroying the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base hidden on Hoth
I love everything; the snowspeeder is particularly nice. I think it deserves its own topic!

Re: Destroying the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base hidden on Hoth
Very well done, wonderful, but some flaws can be seen. Very minor, nothing you really have to worry about, but I'd like to state them anyway.
1. The first thing I thought looked a bit odd was the snow plumes. They are a good idea, but the one with the round white 2x2s is stacked too much too high that it covers part of the back of the MOC. Also, it should look like it should be almost evaporated, like a mist, so maybe use a mix of white and trans pieces for the snow plumes instead of all white (this applies for the round 1x1s as well and I see you did a bit of this at the ends). And the trans yellow pieces at the end of the single snow plumes just don't fit in, sorry.
2. The fire on the turret is a bit awkward IMO. Some is flying this way and that, yet it is a cold ice planet with winds blowing, but winds can't be blowing in all directions at the same time, can they? And if they did, wouldn't the fire be going straight up?
3. The turrets are okay, but it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the MOC. I know you can do a better job on making those.
4. The snowspeeder is a bit chunky on the sides and somewhat too blocky in the middle. You can see this as the snowspeeder's wings are somewhat stretched apart and not straight.
5. The greebling and the figs in some areas are kind of weird. The greebling in the middle is okay, but on the snowtrooper side there are a whole bunch of the hand lever things. A good idea, but they're only in that one area and all together which looks funny as it isn't in the rest of the MOC. Spread them out and put some here and there not all cramped up. Also, I find that there are two many figs on the two sides of the MOC. Put some in the middle (especially the snowtroopers) like they're running towards the trenches or something.
Please don't take my critism too harshly, don't get me wrong, you did an awesome job on this and like I said before, this is wonderful. Those are just some minor things that I think if fixed would make it look better. But still, good job on this a very well done masterpiece!
Oh yeah: How many battle packs did you buy?

Re: Destroying the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base hidden on Hoth
Being that this is my first big MOC I am going to try and address most of the posts so here goes.
Customizer - I only had that many flames and it was my first time actually trying to make them appear fluid or using them for that matter.
Alpha Beta : 1. Updated the story a little, 2. There is a windshield on it, if you want I can take a photo of it opened. 3. Thanks
TD: Before I address yours, don't think I get upset at comments. Sometimes you (people) don't see it from the point of view of the creator and vise versa, that being said I welcome all criticism (good and bad) for without the bad how can we grow? So there really is no bad criticism. To address yours here goes:
1. I have no trans rounds and don't know if they make the 2x2 round plates in trans clear, the reason I would like it in clear is to keep the roundness feeling, the 1x1 plumes are sparks which is why they have the yellow trans. Look at the pic referenced to on the top. Those plumes though should be shorter but I already spent too much time on this MOC that I just wanted to label it done.
2. I addressed the fire above. I wanted to make it look bigger and not just going stright up but I didn't have enough fire to do so. In fact with all the wind and stuff the fire wouldn't go straight up. It should really go all over the place.
3. Not sure which turret you are talking about, if both. The turrets do fit in IMO, especially since thats the layout of the battle. The small one though, because of lack of parts I had to settle with the basic structure, and when I rewatched the movie I realized that the backing was blow off when it was shot at.
4. Snow speeder is a bit chunky but the wings are actually angled down, so it looks like its stretched out but its the angle of the picture. If I put the wings straight Out it wouldn't look like that but also it would look even more chunky.
5. The greebling on the snow trooper side is different because of the amount of people walking through that area would make the snow so messy it would look like that or else I could have done a wierd looking checkered board in the back. The lever holders are to represent how the show would look with all the foot traffic. There are 2 figs in the middle, one dead and one running for his life. The reason the snow troopers are pushing forward. I didn't want them too close to each other because it would be pointless to have them pointing guns at each other. At close ranges one of the 2 would just be dead.
Laughs* after you asked how many battle packs I bought I realized I still have one unopened.
I have had battle packs before for the rebels and snow troopers. TRU leaked them out in 09 and I sold quiet a few and kept the rest.
To answer the question though, I got 3 rebel battle packs. Used 2 though. I needed the pilots for the Snow speeder as well.
OH and thanks everyone. This one was a fun build... wish I had more time. Time to get some figs in.

Wow, you built a MOC better than Revo's.
You need a medal, or at least those prizes!

I love it! The only thing that needs improving is the snow speeder. I would check out Larry Lars's design on Flickr, it is very inspiring. I think you could win the contest!

Re: Destroying the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base hidden on Hoth
I did look at his nose design used by some marshal dude. But I didn't have the pieces needed to replicate and modify his design.
Being my first air ship I think it came out nice... Next time I will make the nose a little longer to give room for more details and use a different method to attach the wings to the body.
