Re: CABGO III Contest Announcement & Discussion
This will be a great contest, I've got one of the two builds needed. I can't wait!

Re: CABGO III Contest Announcement & Discussion
For the first category is 16x16 the size "limits" or the size "specifications"? Someone may challenge that. Like me. Maybe I'll break out my bricks.

Note: guys really you don't need bricklink to make something to win the contest. Thought it does help. :p You just have to expand your ideas.
Very much true. Also I don't know where, but Rook once said something like this- "I officially became a Builder when I took my collection for parts." This is tempting yet I think of excuses not to. If you need parts, thats a way to do some. Become a true BUILDER.
@LazerBlade might wanna check "thought"
Yep, you can always rebuild a set for display later. Losing can be as simple as you used a clear canopy vs. a dark trans canopy. Remember display models are $$$ that are collecting dust, that could used to win more Lego.

When in doubt, read and reread.
Cubism:
MOC 1: Build a vignette depicting ONLY 2 minifigures from a single Lego Theme engaged in some type of conflict.
Minifigures: Use all parts as depicted on BrickSet Figure Image. All other accessories are optional. http://www.brickset.com/minifigs/browse/
Size Limits (In Studs): 16 (W) x 16 (D) x 16 (H)
Piece Limit: None

For the Biathlon category, what do you mean by a picture of the break down of the bricks?

Ok I can't post a picture as a example due to Ipodness, but here is a description. Basically build a 100 peuce MOC and take a picture. Then when your done with that take it apart and lay all the prices out so we can count and make sure there isn't to many peices. Hope that helps!
Re: CABGO III Contest Announcement & Discussion
Thanks, that helps a lot. I thought it was that but I be better off to make sure.jamesuniverse wrote:Captain Flak wrote:For the Biathlon category, what do you mean by a picture of the break down of the bricks?

Re: CABGO III Contest Announcement & Discussion
Yep two pictures for MOC 2. One of the MOC and one with all pieces layed out. Kind of like in the back the Lego instruction booklets there's a page or two that shows all the pieces.
I find this type MOC/contest MOC is also really cool for people that are learning to build, because they can see all of your pieces and try to build it themselves if they wish. A kind of inside the mind of the builder's perspective on the MOC.
And of course it ensures that everyone follows the 100 pieces rule.
Remember the 100 pieces does not include the Collectable Minifigure set. So you have to keep the minifigure intact but you can use the accessories and minifigure base plate where ever you wish. I'll be using my minifigure base plate for the minifigure to stand on but where you use it is at your discretion.

Look in the "Topics" section for it. Like for Cubism MOCs, you will post it in the "MOC 1" forum. Same for MOC 2-5.
Re: CABGO III Contest Announcement & Discussion
Got prizes from Steadibricks and Si-MOCs yesterday!
Si-MOCs donated Pharaoh's Quest Battle Pack & POTC Battle Pack. Therefore I've add 4th place prizes to Categories 1 & 2.

Re: CABGO III Contest Announcement & Discussion
Oh my GOD. I really need some to hop on over to Bricklink... I've found most of my side-stud bricks are tied up in the various faction MOCs I've got going. I also need to get my hands on an inspiring figure... The only category 2 MOCs I can think of just seem far too corny. xP
Re: CABGO III Contest Announcement & Discussion
Oh I just noticed the added prizes! :O Rook your good a making a BIG prize pool!

Hey what can I say. Winning feels good. I want you guys to feel what I feel when I win contests. :happycry:
Re: CABGO III Contest Announcement & Discussion
If only it was that easy. I've got this weird obsession with building a large faction... I think I'll be able to shred one of my MOCs for this though. All those stagnant bricks are starting to tempt me. That, and it'd be incredibly foolish to not participate.Shread 'em! Win more Lego!
Re: CABGO III Contest Announcement & Discussion
Yeah I had that moment with my Star Wars Collection. I was struggling with piece selection on a MOC and realized I had a half dozen or more of the pieces I wanted on several ships. Then I did the math in my head real quick and realized how much money was just sitting on "display" and not being used. Receiving house guests only about 4 times a year I decided I didn't need to "spend" that kind of money on myself basically to look at Star Wars Lego. I knew what they looked like... and shredded about 150-200 sets in two days.

Well, I've already shredded most of my sets for parts. It's now coming to the stage were I have to shred MOCs for parts.
Re: CABGO III Contest Announcement & Discussion
I have a pretty large collection of LEGO SW, but I just can't shred them, me personally, I just can't. Also, what I do to some of the sets that I don't really care for, mostly other themes, some starwars, I will sell them long after LEGO has stopped producing them, and then I've got money for pick-a-brick or bricklink.

Lemme guess. You want something to display and show off to friends and family right? Ok I get it. I was in the same position as you. Here is a solution. No one is going to care about a battle pack cannon/speeder. So shred those. Now for me I have a few of my bigger/cooler/more recognizable sets such as Imperial Star Destroyer, Millennium falcon, and a few other sets I like or I use a lot. I recently took apart a Sith Nightspeeder due to most people not even knowing what that is. Believe me. I will never regret shredding a set. I already am using parts from those sets in MOCs I am doing right now. I suggest you do the same.
Re: CABGO III Contest Announcement & Discussion
For my Halo MOC, I shredded my Gunship, Republic Frigate, and most of the rest of my sets that had any white or light blueish gray pieces.

I know it says MOC or vignet. But are Scenes allowed for Category 3: A Line in the sand? I am unsure because MOCs can be very many things.

Its safe to say a vignette without a size limit, per the rules, would be considered a scene.

Re: CABGO III Contest Announcement & Discussion
Vignette being like a diorama and MOC being like a vehicle. Basically build anything as long as fulfills the other requirements. The key for MOC 3 is Factual Historical scene or item.
