Commander Kev
So anyway, I came up with an idea of a custom Clone Commander. I want to make him either black or a very dark gray, but I want all his markings to be a glow-in-the-dark blue. My dad owns a glow paint that when you charge it in the light for about half an hour, it will glow brightly for over ten hours. I was thinking that I could get a water slide decal from Fine Clonier or somewhere, and then paint the helmet. The only thing I'm not sure is if I can paint the markings on the torso after I apply the decal.
Also does anyone know where I can find white phase2 clone helmets in bulk?

Re: Commander Kev
Try bricklink for standard Lego helmets...or...
(Plus to this is you can get his accessories - an attachable visor!)
Possibly go scout:
Or exoticly heavy!
Link to store ( go to minifigure headgear page five )

You can get phase 2 helmets off ebay or bricklink. Also I'm very happy that you can use great grammer too!(insert name here) wrote:

Thanks, CC007
Thanks, CC007. I checked out the store. I may get the regular helmet with the macrobinoculars if I have ten bucks around here somewhere. But it looks like Comm. Kev may take longer than I thought. First, I have no idea how to use Paypal. (but I do have an account) Second, this will be my first custom minifig ever, and I've never used a water slide decal in my life. And finally, today I fell off my Ripstick pretty hard, I busted both of my elbows, my hands, and nearly tore a hole in my side. So I'm gonna have to relax for a bit to recover.
Anyway, I have a few more questions. Should I paint on the decal before or after I place the decal on the minifig?
And does anybody have any tips on painting a clone helmet? (Such as what brush size?)

Re: Commander Kev
Here's a word of advise:When you buy waterslide decal paper, make sure you get inkjet waterslide decals not laser! Also, make sure to put some sort of sealent on your minifigs after you put on the decals and put on that paint, but make sure you put on the decals, wait for them to dry, put on the paint, and put on the sealent in that order.

I use a pencil to paint helmets. I just don't know the right size too.(insert name here) wrote:

Do you know if Fine Clonier has inkjet decals?

I'm pretty sure Fine Cloniers have Inkjet decals. I suggest emailing Kaminoan to find out. As for painting the helmet, you can refer to a guide I made: Here!
Hope all goes well!

Re: Commander Kev
You could use decals and possibly mess up your whole figure...Or you could take the CABG Revolution way of doing it: Use stickers! Keep your eyes out for the Stickers Special coming soon.

Really? I thought most of you used water slide. Anyway, is there a certain type of sticker paper I should get? 'Cause I might use stickers for this guy.

Nope. Only Clonefactory and Wuzzupbob use water-slide I think. Everyone else just uses the cheap sticker way! Personally, I just use paper and glue!

Re: Commander Kev
Won't stickers soon wear off after a bit? Should I only put Kev for display if I want to keep the stickers on?

Yeah stickers will only be good for display if you're going to put sticker decals on his legs. I prefer using waterslide because the minifig will be 100% posable and playable!

Try something like that. They might have them at your local supermarket. I got a pack of 10 sheets for about $5. I'll never run out of them. They only wear off the legs if you bend the legs forward.

Re: Commander Kev
I don't know about legs and arms.... but I always put clear tape over the sticker, it works as protection and makes the decal shinier.
I got it from here.
I got it from here.
Re: Commander Kev
Do you think I should paint the designs on the torso, then put on the decal after the paint has dried?

If you're going with waterslide, apply the decal before painting. Or you can just paint straight onto an official clone torso, if you have one.
