Yet ANOTHER Test...
I know, this one's plagued with light flicker.

That's pretty smooth. The quality of the pictures could be improved, though.

I put my camera on a baseplate and put legos around it to keep it in place.

Ouch; that's kinda like inventing the wheel.
Really, you should get a pod. Any pod; bi, tri, mono, whatever.

I'm not sure, but my tri-pod that I use for my over-sized vidio camera can be used by my friend's puny camera.

I have a QC4K, so I separated the camera from the base, built a new base to put it in, then put Sticky Tak under neath the base.

1: Do they change in height? Yes, you can change the height.
2: Do they need to be designed specialy for my camera? No, usually not. Look on the bottom of the camera, there will be a hole that looks like a screw belongs there. If you have a smaller camera, then you will need a smaller tri-pod. It just depends. You should probably ask your parents if they have on though. They usually come with the newer cameras or video cameras.
3: HOW MUCH?!?!?! They could run between $10 (Cheapos) or $50-$60 (Good ones.) The pretty good ones that you would need would be about $20.
Re: Yet ANOTHER Test...
Oh, and I should also add, if you're filming minfigs at ground level, using a triPod is not recommended.
