Ha Rook that's funny. So the shiny is trying to learn how to build a brick? Anyways, nice tiling, and I like the bookshelf.

HEY! That sounds familiar....
Awesome job! I see you weren't so bored after all.
Nice details. Can I get that drawing table . Is that how you build? Drawing it first?

I think it's a 'mood-saber', the red shows his frustration towards the shiny.
Re: Rook's Mid- Month MOC (February 2010)
^Seriously.
Then that would be a hot idea for his MOCs. Trying to guess the meaning of the colors could be a game:P

Re: Rook's Mid- Month MOC (February 2010)
Nah I turned to the dark side back before Christmas. Coffee mug turned red too. Also Signature turned a redish hue as well. Avatar however changed to a more community vibe. But then maybe it too could be looked as THE ALL KNOWING, ALL SEEING EYE!
Re: Rook's Mid- Month MOC (February 2010)
I guess I wasn't around or didn't notice the old one... but hmmm... I think I might use a mood saber for my sig fig:P
Re: Rook's Mid- Month MOC (February 2010)
Heh, reminds me of when I was in elementary school. My friends told me that blue lightsabers meant you were an apprentice, green was the master, and red was the Sith. And they said that purple would be explained as soon as Ep. 3 came out.
Re: Rook's Mid- Month MOC (February 2010)
I forgot the meaning of them but I know that in the old republic heros they mentioned the meaning of the colors as you go to choose yours. I don't know how valid their descriptions were but it didn't mention any of that apprentice/master stuff.
Re: Rook's Mid- Month MOC (February 2010)
Nah, what my friends told me was just what they though (only seeing the movies of course). Back then I had no idea EU existed.

Off topic but here is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightsaber#Colors

Colors
Lightsabers depicted the first two released films, A New Hope and Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back had blades that were colored either blue (for the Jedi) or red (for the Sith). In Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Luke Skywalker's newly-constructed lightsaber was colored blue during the initial editing of the film, and appears so in both an early movie trailer and the official theatrical posters, but it was ultimately colored green in order to better stand out against the blue sky of Tatooine in outdoor scenes. Green would later become another standard blade color for Jedi lightsabers in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Mace Windu's purple-bladed lightsaber, as first seen in Attack of the Clones, was a personal request from actor Samuel L. Jackson as a way to make his character stand out among other Jedi.[10]
A multitude of blade colors appear in the Expanded Universe and in other Star Wars products. The original Kenner figure of Luke Skywalker in his Tatooine costume from Star Wars was released with a yellow-bladed lightsaber. While no yellow-bladed lightsabers appear in the films, they have appeared in several computer games, such as Jedi Knight, Jedi Outcast, and Jedi Academy. The Knights of the Old Republic video games further expand the number of colors, adding cyan, viridian, violet, silver, and orange,[7] and The Force Unleashed video game adds black, gold, and pink in the Nintendo DS version. With the release of The Clone Wars film and series, a build-your-own lightsaber kit was released in toy stores, and included red, blue and green shards that when put into a lightsaber you built, can light up. More than one shard can be inserted, resulting in mixed colors.
Multiple sources refer to a focusing crystal in the hilt as the source of the blade's color, mainly from the video game Star Wars Galaxies.[7] In the Star Wars universe, the color of a lightsaber's blade is determined by a crystal that is built in the center of the lightsaber and is reflected out as a light beam by the lightsaber's emitting energy core.
Re: Rook's Mid- Month MOC (February 2010)
I didn't mean to get us so off-topic. Of course NOW I already know what Saber colors are (matter of preference and the crystal) but I was just referring how back when I was in 1st grade that was what I was told.

Yeah I usually pencil out the basic shape if I'm building from my own imagination.

I swear, I've never heard someone besides a kid say 'imagination'.
Anyway, I really like the details you put into the displayed sword and lava lamp. Although they're simple designs, the piece usage actually fits together unusually well.
Nice one Rook.

Where do you think kids learn words from?
I agree usually you only hear kids say “imaginary”, rather then adults. It's sad to hear you say that you've only heard kids use the word 'imagination'. It might mean the adults that you regular contact with don't have a regular creative outlet. May you need to "re-teach" them that word. Good luck and use your imagination!
