WIP RoboCop - Update 5/19/2010
Thanks to Mazz for the inspiration Now I want to tackle the project of making a Lego robocop.
Here is the helmet I am going to work with. Removed the fin and smoothened it out for the pic.
Here is the progress so far.
At this point I think I went too far and am trying to figure out a way to remedy the problem. I will probably just do decals but I really liked the feel of the last picture of the current one. None-the-less I have been encouraged (thanks axel) to keep on trucking and see how it comes out.
So here we are before decal stage, what do you think?
Follow the rest of the pics on flickr for the body shot.
Now this is before the decal stage:
Without Further Adieu (I believe thats how you write it.)
I didn't do the gloss coat on it since I think I will be redoing it. There are a few points that I know at least 2 members here will point out that needs fixing. But for now I am quite pleased on how it came out.
My Auto-9 Pistol came in after I took the photos so here is the "finished" Robocop.
In a bad neighborhood of the USDF world (thats a vig I worked on for USDF)
Comments are welcomed!

I personally think your not going to get very far with a clone helmet, never the less good luck.

It's actually coming out pretty good. Now what I thought in my head but the mouth of the clone head is lower then I though. OH well... Today (if today) I will be introducing some putty to it to fill in the visor holes and maybe reform the chin guard.Darman-C19 wrote:I personally think your not going to get very far with a clone helmet, never the less good luck.
Wish me luck.

Yeah Me too... theres nothing I can do now but move forward. I will try to repair the damage or start from scratch again and stop there.
We will see what happens.
Thanks for the support.
Re: WIP RoboCop - Update 5/19/2010
This is looking quite nice! Just needs a bit of sculpting and it will be perfect!
I have a question: How did you get the top of the helmet were the fin was removed so smooth?

Re: WIP RoboCop - Update 5/19/2010
I think you should remove the cheek lines on the face and stuck with the second to last picture.
Re: WIP RoboCop - Update 5/19/2010
I can see you selling custom figures now.
The helmet looks great, can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the figure.

I can't wait to see it complete, and I can't believe how smooth the clone trooper helmet was without the arc, what did you use, a buffer?

Actually its all sanding.
A good tip is to use different grades when sanding. I was shocked myself at the last results since I am using a new type of sand paper. But its all just sand paper.
I originally removed most of the fin with an exacto knife to make it go faster.
Re: WIP RoboCop - Update 5/19/2010
Well I guess I was incorrect you have gotten pretty far with the clone trooper helmet. Oh and personally I prefer the second to last picture as it adds a little more feel to the accuracy.

Actually its in accurate but for me to make the second helmet more accurate its going to take some tools I dont have so I will be restarting from scratch.
MEH! The only issue I have still is them 2 holes. I will figure it out when I get there... My putty seems to dry and then fall out of the hole when i try to sand the excess away.
But that being said it would be faster for me to return to those 2 holes and just leave them alone.
Re: WIP RoboCop - Update 5/19/2010
Just wanted to give an update for those not following the flickr.
I have painted it silver but I am also working on an alternate helmet which will be scrapped and redone again:P, the second version will be a detailed sculpted version if I can get it done.
I had permission for double post.
