DP's Gunship Guide
Aki asked me for this, and made it for him. Though this could be very usefull to all members, especially members who want to join the guild. So here it is:
Well, gunships aren't just a block. You do know the thing they are made for. They should have to be fast and maneuvrable, and have some decent firepower to defend themselfves.
First think: what do I want to let them transport? Troopers? Vehicles? Or even both?
Then think how you are going to archieve this. For example, look at the Laat. The vehicle one doesn't need to be bigger, they just replaced the trooper space with 2 arms.
Start building. I normally start with the cockpit and then build the rest. Make sure you have enough space for the troopers / vehicles you want to transport. So don't make the vehicle after, but before the creating of the gunship.
Make it stable, especially when you have a heavy top. Use supports inside. I used those wedge-pieces from the ILC. They don't take much room but they are VERY stable. That means I could have an extra speeder bike in there.
Now the key thing is: plates. Use way more plates, especially for the side. You can't make a smooth gunship with bricks. Plates are less stable, but when you connect them correctly they can be really strong. Though you shouldn't add heavy objects, like wings to them.
Crew: Use atleast 2 clones with BIG, I repeat, BIG gunships. 1 as a pilot and a second as a co-pilot or a gunner.
And as last, make an unique design. I made myself also a blocky design, but because of the sides it looks smooth and still powerfull. I made my engines to the sides. Big, powerfull engines that will impress the others. I didn't use wings, but they can also be added very easy. Just take your time, it doesn't have to be created tomorrow! I also took 2 weeks creating my gunship, I build a design and then I went doing something else. Then suddenly you just come up with and idea to make it stronger or better. Build easy and think about your structures. That should do it.

DP, your gunship is really just a box with some windows, I mean it's cool and all, but I think the LAAT is a good inspiration for making successful gunships.

It's actually more then that, the sides are sloped, and the design is quite intricate. Actually, remove the wings, the cockpit module, and the ball-turrets, and the LAAT/I is little more then a box as well.

Re: DP's Gunship Guide
My gunship (more like a dropship) is blocky too. I wanted a simple & small design (fast and small). I was able to make 2 of em

Post it in this forum, or PM it to Rook or 007, depending on its goodness they might let you in the guild.

Click here for the crappiest gunship you'll ever see!
It's small, it's fast, and it gets the job done. (Ehh... it's more like a dropship)

If you don't mind, I will do what you did: make a simple dropship, and post it here for criticism of how to improve.

Do that, though don't make it too simple.

It will have open side doors, it will be small, and have a small atmospheric system so I have a excuse for it being an AA transport (AA in such as all altitude).

Re: DP's Gunship Guide
I will start working on it, soon. It will be simple so it will be simple to modify and so I can have more than one, lika a medical one, and a vehicle one.
