Rook I noticed a small thing in this photo: Rook's photo , sorry for the link but anyway. Is that an Exo-Force code brick? I just had to point that out! Nice work Rook this has to be one of the best MOCs I have ever seen!

Now thats a good one , but this is one of the best MOCs I have seen. I think the best part is the "secret" compartments.

Yes but that was March 2006 and there are better builders out there. The main difference between me and them was they had been doing it longer and they were practicing their builds prior to the contest. Also I was in Japan and didn't have access to my bricks. I had to build my model over and over in my head. 3 years later now with almost daily practice and a new portfolio of skills. I believe I could make the top 21 now (top 3 from 7 US cities back then) I did make top 7 for New York City but they only announced top 3. Mine was probably 4th place and not lower then 5th place. 6th and 7th were lacking vision. They had no real catch/statement to them. I did a sculpture of a severed skeleton hand holding jewels. The winner did a parrot which I thought was pretty lame because it wasn't unique. The build was good but the idea was overdone. (Theme was Pirates and you had 60 minutes to build your MOC.) The clear winner from that round was the Octopus I think it was from San Francisco. I don't know who or what was built for the final contest in at Legoland CA.

Wow, Rook you never can make anything bad. How did you make it stable with that beast in the belly?

Well I actually learned even more about building large this time. I have my usual frame but it was too weak. My next big ship it will be stronger. Also I have plotted a new technique for creating large winged ships. I'll share this idea with pictures in my next big ship. Most likely coming this spring-summer.

Basic rules for building this big:

1. Double the support frame that you think you need.

2. Use layers of small plates held together rather then layers of big plates.

3. Build modular and assemble in sections.

So cool, Must try build it...*slap's self* i have got to stop doing that. great tip though!
