541st Vendetta #19: There is Nothing to Fear
I think I'm getting a little better at story comics, and indirect characterization . A nice thirty-two page comic to make up for my listlessness and overall lack of building last week .
Re: 541st Vendetta #19: There is Nothing to Fear
I think the Legion customizing with spray paint is pretty fun to read about but......you're leaning a lot more into one of those "clones can be special" parts.....which I don't like...even though Ied has always been different with that frakking Scottish Black Cyclops accent.

Am I? There's nothing that distinguishes a Clone from their brothers . It's something that distinguishes the Legion from the many others. The 541st wears the big-Arse red stripe. Not X Clone or Y Clone - the whole bloody Legion.
And your demo man is actually one of my many inspirations for Ied. He took a lot more from other sources, though .

Re: 541st Vendetta #19: There is Nothing to Fear
In an episode Ied must end up with one eye and a grenade launcher.
Use a rubber band as an eye patch.
And excuse me, if the whole Legion is now DK red....how should I know, you haven't updated your L'Page.
I thought it was just that 91st unit.

What 91st Unit?
*Looks up, then down.*
Eh?
But, I haven't updated that page in quite a while. I'll likely get around to taking pictures this weekend and re-designing a couple segments. I'm not one of those people who likes special clones either; they're frakking anathema to me. However - you have to give some character to a few of them or you've got a Legion of Grunts.

(Don't get it? Read Good Omens by Pratchett and Gaiman. Thank me later.)
Notice how I posted here without commenting on the comic itself? Yeah, I'm ducking that bullet 'til morning.

Very nice sial. I like the clones spray painting their armor and the battle cry. I can sense the tension between between Alexis and Ied building. I can't help but wait until they hook up. And the would assassin in the building was a nice touch.
Oh and the gimping in this one was suburb. The bluring was done very nicely and adds to the over all comic.
Thats all for now cause I have to go and eat.
10/10 stars for this one.

Alexis and Ied....the tension builds up....and then in your last comment when they find out they are going to die....they make sweet sweet love...well that's what I think would sell good.
Re: 541st Vendetta #19: There is Nothing to Fear
Sweet, Sial. Those actions scenes at the end were superb!
@Jens: Alexis and Ied are so gonna get together and ____ just so she can prove she can break the rules of the Order.

Re: 541st Vendetta #19: There is Nothing to Fear
Well we can already see that their relation will lead to something.....and I'm so sure it'll lead to sweet sweet dirty love.
Re: 541st Vendetta #19: There is Nothing to Fear
Jens, they're LEGO minifigs. Get your mind off the ABS.
Also, I've finally figured out why Ied's accent never quite gelled with me. It's because all this time I've been assigning him an actual Scottish accent (Edinburgh, to be precise) - this time I tried imagining an incredibly over-the-top, Demoman, Davy-Jones-from-Pirates-of-the-Carribean accent and it worked! Now, go listen to a real Scotsman and get it right next time.
(And yes, still ducking that bullet. I said morning, I didn't say this morning.)

Yes...Ied needs a grenade launcher and an eye patch in one of the episodes.

...That would actually be pretty awesome. Sial, have Ied lose an eye and gain a fondness for blowing shit up.

Awesome. The sunshine, the fog, and all the different effects really bring this storyline together. Another great comic!
Re: 541st Vendetta #19: There is Nothing to Fear
The lfashback was very well done once I figured out what it was
Very enjoyable episode! Great job!

Why haven't I seen this yet? Very good. And did that Jedi use his force powers the make them charge against their will? That's what I gathered...

I'm actually very surprised nobody has pointed that out yet. That's Ied's big grudge with the whole Jedi Order. How the hell do you think they managed to get an entire army of soldiers who were taught to use cover and advance carefully (as you'd be a flaming IDIOT to do otherwise when you're fighting with automatic weapons - the type our military uses today, only without the shiny bolts of energized Tibanna) to charge into battle sometimes under the protection of a lightsaber blade, most times without? You trick them into thinking they're invincible, using a combination of earned trust (knowing that the officer won't willingly send them to their deaths) and the Force. And for the most part, those under the Jedi's control believe it. Right up until the Wilhelm scream.
They did it in the movies all the time. Qui-Gon to the RSF officers on Naboo, the various generals on Geonosis, Obi-Wan at Christophis, Ki-Adi Mundi was about to do it on Mygeeto, Yoda didn't do it on Kasshyyk (that's why the elements kept to the barricades and wreckage, and sniped off the attacking elements; those who didn't died quickly), Anakin did it to the 501st on Coruscant.
They mind-tricked other forces into suicidal missions. Best example is Obi-Wan and Odd Ball. Odd Ball admires Kenobi, and before he can hesitate flying into the swarm of Vultures, Kenobi no doubt puts him into a happy sensation. Then the fighters start exploding, and you hear the panicked comm chatter.
Ied's seen it all his career, and during that engagement, he finally sees the ruse. He charges in with the men, he orders the attack... and then the corpses start falling into the mud, walkers burst into flame, and he can only but sit there in a mix of shock, guilt, and blinding rage.
Re: 541st Vendetta #19: There is Nothing to Fear
What you just said Sial explains why Ied is mad at the jedi. And makes alot of sense.

And that, ladies and gentleman, is why I hate the Republic.
This was an expert mix of effects and drama, as usual, of course!

I'm a noticer, Sial.
Also, CIS forever. Droids don't care if they die, and if they do, you have a problem. A big, cylon/terminator-esque problem.

Re: 541st Vendetta #19: There is Nothing to Fear
I've just realized it now Jedi are JERKS!
Anyway, what did happen to the Jedi because on your legion page it says he died from an AA round, but here he just disappears?
Does he die or leave?

Re: 541st Vendetta #19: There is Nothing to Fear
The latter. This was the campaign where he was killed, but he just lead a charge in this scene, and pressed forward with the clones, into the Separatist lines.
Re: 541st Vendetta #19: There is Nothing to Fear
Hmm the case of the dissapearing has once again come to the spotlight. But really I've always wondered if he really got killed or if he dissapeared.
Ps. How did you make the one head in your sig look all transperant? And the same with the words in the charge part of this comic.
