clonecommanderz84 wrote:How do you print them out?
The best way to do it is this:
- Put a bunny suit on
- Go to a store where they sell printers
- Ask if you get a free carrot with every printer
- Buy a printer
- Go back to your house
- Install the printer
- Go back to the store to buy some cartridges
- Ask for a free carrot once again
- Go back to your house
- Put them in your printer
- Print them!

Re: Decal Paper/Decals for Novices
Even though it's months later, this is actually kinda related to the previous post. Funny old world...
Anyway, the only decal paper available to me requires a few coats of clear acrylic spray after printing because my printer is inkjet rather than laser. Now, I have a choice between matt and, well, non-matt spray. Which is the best idea? Also, if anyone has any experience with this sort of paper, would you apply decal softener between printing and spraying, or between spraying and application?

Re: Decal Paper/Decals for Novices
I can help you jinja. I use Krylon crystal clear spray to seal the paper afer printing the decals. It is a glossy spray, so if you can get krylon I would recommend using it. Now about decal softener. I don't useit but I know how it works. If you are going to but a decal on the helmet or arms and legs that is when you use it. You simply dunk the decal in it after the decal has been cut out. It should tell you how long to hold it in the softener on the bottle. Now after you apply the decalyou need to use a spray that won't melt the Lego plastic. I don't know if you have Krylon but once again that is the spray I would highly recommend using. I hop that helps. If you have any questions send me a PM, I'd be glade to help.
Spray to seal paper: krylon acrylic crystal clear high gloss spray (2-3 even coats)
Protective coating spray: krylon crystal clear finishing spray.

Jinja -
Since you're buying from exactly the same place as me, I recommend the 'non-matt' spray. It's Acrylic. I have concluded that it is actually better then Krylon (sorry, DB!).

It's fine CG, I was just telling him what I use, I didn't know that there was a better spray then Krylon.

Re: Decal Paper/Decals for Novices
They might be pretty much the same - I've just found it easier to spray and easier to tell people about. Plus, in this case, it'd be easier for Jinja to buy the paper and the spray from the same place.
Re: Decal Paper/Decals for Novices
Thanks, CG. Good to know I'll be using the same stuff as the Big Kahuna.

Im not sure if this has been covered before because its a lot of pages to read, do you have to put decal sealant on kamino's.

I am pretty sure it's just a spray-on clear acrylic paint.

Yes, you do - but only once you've applied them. I recommend Keen Crystal Clear Acrylic Spray.

^Listen, this is wisdom. I have actually never applied a decal, but I am working on it. Chaotic Good on the other hand...is a professional at decals.

Re: Decal Paper/Decals for Novices
Do you have to use Brasso on a Clone if you are going to put a full black decal. And thanks for the advice.

Re: Decal Paper/Decals for Novices
If you're using black backgrounds, you would need to use white decal paper, lest you want the colours to be transparent. You'd need to have a black background to the decal.
Because white decal paper (in this case with a black background) wouldn't be transparent, you wouldn't really need too - but I prefer to do it because it looks and feels cleaner.
