RE: Decal Paper/Decals for Novices
Hey I was just wondering, I don't/can't use cloth elements for my paulrons and kamas what would be the best subsitute?
I am currently plannin to print a pic of said elements along with my decals on sticker paper and cut holes in them. Is that the best thing to do?
P.S. Sorry for the double post.

This is the cheapest alternative to making kamas and pauldrons. I use it myself and it works like a dream!

THat is some very good news, and something lifted off my chest.
Re: Decal Paper/Decals for Novices
I would recommend waiting till Jedi Joe and Darth Pineapple open their bricklink store for pauldrons. They are expert makers of them.Commanderblueleader96 wrote:Hey I was just wondering, I don't/can't use cloth elements for my paulrons and kamas what would be the best subsitute?

Aki... did you not see the link I posted? That WAS your technique!
Re: Decal Paper/Decals for Novices
Yes, actually most of us prefer sticker paper to decals. If you use decals the base body must be all white, which means you have to remove the original printing, which kills the value of the figure.
I get plane white torso's from BS to put my decals on, works aswell and I think it looks a lot better than stickers.
But offcourse it is a little bit more expensive and time consuming.

Sorry for being slow about this but are you saying the design underneath will show through? If so what is the cheapest way to remove the design?Clonecommando007 wrote:Yes, actually most of us prefer sticker paper to decals. P.S. If somone has a picture of K Comany from the movie would they pm it to me?

Roughly $2.00.

I would not call myself a novice but I make exceptional decals, I might post them later on.

Would white mailing labels be a good sticker paper, or do I need something else?

Re: Decal Paper/Decals for Novices
It should work. What I would do though, after making a sticker, put clear tape over it to give it a nice shine.

Alright, thanks! I'm printing a decal now, so I'll bear it in mind.

Decal Paper or stickers?
Personally, I use this for decals... Wbob also uses this paper!

Okay I might give that a shot, I have heard that mailing tabs also work.

I don't use decals most of the time but I just decorate and design by hand.

Do mailing tabs work for decals too?

Re: Decal Paper/Decals for Novices
Mailing labels will work, but they are called "stickers" not decals... since decals refer to waterslides..
Re: Decal Paper/Decals for Novices
Decals really look better once applied, but they're a real bitch to cut out and apply without messing up. I've decaled three figures and all of them have some problems with the decals.

Very true CC, I am working on waterslides now and it's ALOT harder than I expected...
There's alot of waiting time, plus it's more expensive. The waterslides, the Brasso, and sealant...

Man, I know. It's taken me about a year to get everything working smoothly for my decals - I'm currently battling with my faulty printer which just refuses to print properly on white decal paper.
But is it worth it all? Definitely!
As to Brasso, I have some stuff that's Brasso 'wadding'. Basically, it's like a piece of cloth (or some similar material) which is covered in Brasso. It can be used much like a cloth against the LEGO torso, but after some time continuously scrubbing or rubbing it against the torso, it's removed the printing completely. I think liquid Brasso takes longer, but with wadding you can control the length of time it takes.
