Frightening Discovery onboard the NSR Andromeda (Sorry Zeph)
Unfortunately, yes Zeph, this is my entry in our moc-off to build something strange/fantastical. I thought I would be a good idea to promote my new idea of 'Space Zombies' as well as get a jump-start on my new faction in the NSR (or New Space Reich). This moc uses a TON of techniques and designs in it, so if you're a younger member (or older member looking to sharpen his skills ) try and look for all the detail I added.
"The NSR (or New Space Reich) lost contact with the battle cruiser Andromeda a little over 2 light years ago. Since the vessel was exploring an uncharted sector of space, whatever they had mapped or come across was vital to our database and to the progression of our colonies. As a trained veteran in both military, technological, and scientific affairs I was natural chosen to find the ship and bring her and the crew home. However no training could have prepared me for the frightening discovery I have just made. The ship is in utter ruins- the crew all dead and seemingly infected with some sort of unknown agent that turns their skin tone green. Scouting out the lower hull of the ship so far has produced various wall murals written in blood. The most disturbing of which I have just found in one of the hangars spelling out 'RUN'. Why RUN? The quietness is so eerie; all I can hear is myself breathing in my hardsuit. My god, what has happened here..."
RUN
The crashed starfighter through the hangar door used the lego net technique. You take the tiles and put them on one side of the net, then attach them to 1x1 round studs on the other side of the net followed by off-set 1x2 plates. This gives the tiles mobility needed to position them like so.
Starfighter crashed through hangar door made by using a net and connecting tile bricks to one side, and round 1x1 bricks followed by staggered 1x2 plates on the other. Zombie pilot also visible.
Dead/infected/crushed crew member.
Dead/infected crew member who was chained and thrown over the catwalk.
Dead/infected crew member atop the catwalk.
Catwalk door.
Catwalk topshot. Note the trail of blood.
Some sort of reactor with electricity running up and down the side. Used jamming in clone war helmet antennas within the round 4x4 bricks.
This specific spot uses a wide variety of techniques. Check other side-view pics to see how bricks are off-set and slanted.
Top shot.
Bad pic, but more greebles.
The dead/infected crew along with the scout in his hardsuit. I really liked this hardsuit as well as the gun running up his right arm.
Cargo crates! They can be colorful and interestingly shaped too! I used a lot of 1x1 with stud in the center bricks to create these.
The crashed and incomplete starfighter. I may finish it, I may not. First time I've tried this type of fighter technique. Complete with zombie pilot upon purchase.
Well that's it hope you enjoyed and learned some new stuff. Also for those of you not checking out the updates thread I will be gone until next Tuesday and may or may not have internet access- so don't freak out if I don't respond to your pms! Just wait!

This is awesome. I love the greebles at the side, the Blood graffiti, how you used guns to attach lightning, the escape pods, if they're escape pods, the doors, how the hull looks broken at the side, the space marine himself and all the little tiny details! Great job man!

Thanks PhiMa but the lightning on the reactor was actually attached by using the antaneas from CW helmets.
Re: Frightening Discovery onboard the NSR Andromeda (Sorry Zeph)
That is quite extraordinary. I reckon it'll be a hatrick for moc of the month!
Re: Frightening Discovery onboard the NSR Andromeda (Sorry Zeph)
Indeed! Has anybody every done that? Because if there was a person who would, it would be Rev.
The Run sign is pure pwnage. Great job with that. I love the tiling here, it looks so smooth and there isn't really a bump at all, that's what makes it look great. The Ship crashing through the wall with the tiles coming off also looks great. The greebling on this is amazing, especially on the top part. You really amaze me with these MOC's Rev. Keep up the great work.

My favorite part has to be the blood text.
(I'm not gona comment on everything because I'm sure you'll get a lot of parrot posts)

Re: Frightening Discovery onboard the NSR Andromeda (Sorry Zeph)
I notice that there are bullet holes in several places, on crates as well as on the ship's cockpit. What is that little design on the crate that's on top of the half-zombie?
I'd have to say my favorite greebles are the ones just over the hangar area, and the reactor/walkway area is also great.

This is great! The zombie hanging from the chains is sickly brilliant! The blood effects on the wall are amazing! TThey look as if the splattered blood had been dripping. I love it how the fighter is crashing through the wall!
Re: Frightening Discovery onboard the NSR Andromeda (Sorry Zeph)
Dope! I smell a MOC of the Month win. Red Rum, Red Rum!
Re: Frightening Discovery onboard the NSR Andromeda (Sorry Zeph)
Fantastic! How ccould I ever hope to beat you! You did an awesome job with a ton of detail! Poll will be up shortly!

Run.
The crashed starfighter is good, the height of this is good too, the floor, the zombies, everything.

Pure awesomeness. I love the blood dripping from the body on the catwalk, and the greebles on the wall. Definately a MOC of the Month.

Stop. Hold it. No. Just no. A lightyear is a measure of distance, not time. I refuse to comment on the MOC until this glaring error is fixed.legorevolution wrote:The NSR (or New Space Reich) lost contact with the battle cruiser Andromeda a little over 2 light years ago.

...Then you can wait a week, he's gone 'till next tuesday.

The pics aren't loading!
Well, the story sounds good I guess. Sounds like somebody's been playing Dead Space.
EDIT: Just checked it out on flickr. I am at a loss for words.

This is just...wow . Well done lego revo, well done.
Re: Frightening Discovery onboard the NSR Andromeda (Sorry Zeph)
You are just so talented at the work that you do Revo! Everything is so incredible.
Re: Frightening Discovery onboard the NSR Andromeda (Sorry Zeph)
That is total bamfness. Love the writing in blood on the wall and the overall complete feeling of all the detailing. For sure that is TBB blog worthy.

Good God, LegoRev! I'm just not sure you're mortal anymore.
The wall which the fighter crashed through is very well done. The plate-greebling is what did it for me, and the fact that you're able to create proper damage with that just increases the admiration I have for it by an order of magnitude greater. The blood puddles are one of a million minute details which just make your artwork that much more incredible. And how can we forget the blood writing!
Vimes is right. We've much to learn from this single MOC !

Didn't Han Solo make the Kessel Run in under 2 parsecs?
By the way awesome MOC Rev.
Re: Frightening Discovery onboard the NSR Andromeda (Sorry Zeph)
Yes, and then it was retconned. Revo, your retcon had better make more sense than theirs - black hole cluster, indeed...

Re: Frightening Discovery onboard the NSR Andromeda (Sorry Zeph)
Eh?
I always assumed Solo just took a shortcut along a uncharted hyperspace lane. The uncharted nature of his route provides for the notability of his feat, as any unfrequented route could be fraught with debris, asteroids, wreckage, and all other sorts of goodies which could ruin a FTL trip faster than you can say "EPIC collision".
Original (Safe) Kessel Run was X Parsecs long; Solo (Slightly More Dangerous) Kessel Run was X - N Parsecs long.
Anyways...
